Area Links	About The Cold Springs Area Cold Springs is ideally located in an area well-known for its abundant year-round recreational opportunities. Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Area are touted as being the closest High Sierra vacationland to the San Francisco Bay Area. Summer activities include: camping, swimming, fishing, boating, or wind-surfing at Pinecrest Lake, horseback riding from Sardella's pack Station at Crabtree or Kennedy Meadows Resort, or backpacking and hiking the wilderness trails of the Stanislaus National Forest. Along with Pinecrest Lake, nearby Beardsly lake is also a popular summer retreat. Here visitors can enjoy the additional watercraft sports of water skiing and jet skiing.
	Winter welcomes visitors with a fresh blanket of snow and endless opportunities for snowplay activities. Dodge Ridge Ski Area is a favorite family ski area offering beginner, intermediate and advanced levels of downhill ski terrain and groomed cross-country trails. You can take a lunch break and rest your ski legs at the main lodge or Mid-Mountain way-station which also offers amazing central sierra views. Leland Meadows offers a general snowplay hill for inner tubes, sleds, toboggans or what-have-you; ideal for children or the young-at-heart. Snowmobilers can off-load at the highway closure point above Cow Creek and travel the groomed highway to Dardanelles and Kennedy Meadows turnoff. Ungroomed slopes and snowbowls invite and challenge the more adventurous riders and unsurpassed breath-taking views can be enjoyed by all.
